What is CSIR UGC NET?

The full form of CSIR UGC NET is the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test. It is a national-level exam administered by the National Testing Agency (NTA) to select applicants for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and to determine their eligibility for lecturing positions in Indian universities and colleges. Candidates who qualify for the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) NET exam are only eligible to become lecturers in the faculty of Science and Technology.

Educational Qualification: M.Sc or equivalent degree/ Integrated BS-MS/BS-4 years/BE/B.Tech/B.Pharma/MBBS with at least 55% marks for General (UR) and OBC candidates and 50% for SC/ST, Persons with Disability (PwD) candidates

Age Limit: as on 01 July 2023 [SC/ST/PWD/ Female: 05 years Relaxation, OBC: 03 years Relaxation]

• JRF: 28 years
• Lectureship (LS)/ Assistant Professorship: No upper age Limit.

Fee: For General/EWS: Rs.1100/-, OBC: Rs.550/-, SC/ST: Rs.275/-, PWD: No fee.
